Start of the GCU book fair


LAHORE: A 3-day book fair kicked off on Tuesday at GCU Lahore. GCU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Asghar Zaidi opened the book fair where up to 50 percent off is offered by 35 publishers. Besides students and faculty members, GCU Chief Librarian M Naeem and Exam Controller Shahzad Ahmad also attended the inauguration ceremony.

Speaking to the media, Prof Zaidi said they have opened the book fair for students from other universities so that as many students as possible can take advantage of discounts offered by publishers. He called on parents and students to promote a culture of giving books on special occasions to promote reading habits. He also said that there are also e-book services at GCU e-library and he is looking forward to expanding them.

UET: The 74th Board of Governors (BoG) meeting of UET Lahore Center of Excellence in Water Resources Engineering (CEWRE) was held on Tuesday. According to a press release, the vice-chancellor of UET, who is also chairman of the CEWRE board, chaired the meeting in which important issues related to disparities, the reduction allowance for the permanent and contractual staff, housing acquisition allowance and UET notifications regarding doctoral fees were discussed. The BoG also approved the list of experts for the selection jury.
