South Dinajpur Book Fair to be held on December 27

BALURGHAT: The District Book Fair will kick off at Balurghat High School grounds on December 27. It will continue until January 2. A full-fledged book fair committee has been set up to carry out the whole process hassle-free.

District Information and Culture Officer Rajesh Kumar Mondal said: “The Book Fair committee members recently discussed the smooth running of the fair. It will start on December 27 and run until December 27. through Jan. 2. There will be some restrictions for book lovers, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic like last year. ”

According to him, social distancing standards will be strictly observed to limit the spread of the deadly virus.

“No one will be entertained to enter the fairgrounds without a face mask. A proper disinfection process will be maintained for visitors at the point of entry. There will be several cultural programs maintaining pandemic protocols every evening. the days, “he said.

Mainly, it was decided that prominent booksellers and publishers from Kolkata will be invited to attend the Book Fair.

A total of 70 stands will be presented at the next Book Fair.

There will be no entrance fee for visitors and the fairground will open daily from 12:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Library Minister Siddiquallah Choudhury will inaugurate the Book Fair on this day. He will be accompanied by the Minister of Agricultural Marketing and the local MP for Harirampur Biplab Mitra.

A book lover and editor of a cultural magazine, Krishnapada Mondal, said everyone should develop the habit of reading books.
