While writing and reading tend to be solitary acts, fans of both can congregate at the Oxford Exchange Book Fair in Tampa on Thursday night for a bit of socializing.

More than 30 local authors (see list below) will interact with bookworms by giving readings, hosting writing workshops and discussing pathways to publishing, while browsing books and sipping coffee. Champagne.

While the OE Book Fair is geared towards adults (the Children’s Book Fair takes place on June 5), children’s books are welcome for book drive. Participants can bring in gently used books suitable for K-12 to donate to the Hillsborough Education Foundation’s Teaching Aids Store.

The event is free, but an RSVP is required. Parking is available at the OE parking lot for $10, while additional parking is available at the Magnolia Avenue parking lot.

And since you obviously want to keep turning pages throughout the weekend, know that Saturday is Independent Bookstore Day, with celebrations in the St. Petersburg Bay Area (Tombolo Books), Lakeland (crawl municipal), Safety Harbor (Portkey Books), Venice (Fable Books) and Winter Haven (Writer’s Block).

Like our friends from Axios pointed out, more local bookstores to support include Mojo Books & Records in Tampa, Book + Bottle and Wilson’s Book World in St. Pete, Back in the Day Books in Dunedin and Lighthouse Books in Dade City
