The launch of a cookbook called Cooking for all seasons, eating healthy all year round, by a Lagos resident Maria do Rosario Magalhaes will take place on Saturday, April 9 at 3 p.m. at the Fortaleza da Luz restaurant in Praia da Luz.
The cookbook is a collection of Rosário Magalhães’ own recipes using seasonal, organic ingredients to prepare dishes that are both in good health and delicious. The fact that they are easy to make will undoubtedly please the most eager among us.
It was Rosário’s 14-year stint as an economic attaché at the Portuguese Embassy in Paris that introduced him to different culinary experiences. Frequenting different restaurants, it was the vegetarians that impressed her the most, as well as the growing awareness of the benefits of organic food.
Back in Lisbon, she took cooking workshops, started experimenting with food, and soon gave lessons herself. Over the years, she has amassed a large number of recipes. She was persuaded to publish the recipes as a book, and in December last year it was printed in Portuguese and English.
The book is divided into distinct sections. There are recipes for spring, summer, fall, winter and all year round. And since Rosário loves parties, there’s a special occasions section. In the introduction, she describes her philosophy on nutrition and healthy living.
Rosário has resided in Lagos since 2013. As well as enjoying the wonderfully fresh air and slower pace of life here, she continues to teach cooking classes at the local Senior University.
