Avid readers and Wordle lovers will have the chance to connect with the writers behind the words that change us at the 10th edition of the Kingsmead Book Fair (KBF), sponsored by Standard Bank Wealth and Investment.

Now in his 10’sand year, Kingsmead Book Fair has earned its reputation as an important event in the literary calendar over the past decade by featuring prominent local and international authors who discuss current book themes and genres with readers in interactive sessions .

This year’s event, to be held at Kingsmead College, Melrose, Johannesburg on May 21, will feature a series of thought-provoking lectures and debates for readers of all ages. The event program is carefully curated and includes an engaging program for children and teenagers that is growing in popularity every year.

The program includes interactive sessions that cover a variety of topics, held simultaneously in different locations throughout the school. The curriculum is comprehensive and varied and appeals to readers with a wide range of interests – from crafting romance, suspense and crime stories to writing cookbooks, memoirs, short stories and novels that have the potential to change the world.

In addition to allowing readers to meet some of the most important authors of our time, the Salon du livre is a great day out for the whole family. There is a range of activities for all to enjoy, with a bookshop, food and drink stalls, art exhibitions and more.

Young Authors Competition

The KBF is popular with book lovers and would-be writers who want to learn more about the authors’ writing process and what inspired their latest books. This year Kingsmead Book Fair is proud to launch the first KBF Young Writers Competition.

The competition aims to celebrate the talents of young writers across the country and is open to schoolchildren aged 6 to 18. Each entry must be an original work in English, submitted in the appropriate age category. All entries must be received by midnight, May 16, 2022.
