Sauti Sol member Polycarp “Fancy Fingers” Otieno has published a children’s book called “Written in the Stars”.
The book is part of a series called Papa et moi which will be released in the coming months.
The father-of-one released the book a week after the release of his first solo EP titled The Father Studies, a gentle rhythmic reflection of fatherhood.
He celebrated the news on Instagram on Wednesday, noting that Africa needs to tell its own stories.
With the release of the book, Polycarpe continues his journey towards fatherhood by focusing on the stories we tell our children.
“Africa needs to tell its own stories. For a very long time our history has been passed down verbally from generation to generation. The downside of this is that a lot of broken phones and others take advantage of this to misinterpret our real truth , taking all the glory of our inventions and genius than the African people,” he said.
“Therefore, the content that we give to our children is very important, because they learn more about the true essence of who they are and where they come from. There is not enough African content for children who be relatable. That said, allow me to introduce “WRITTEN IN THE STARS”!!

The book was conceptualized by Polycarp ‘Fancy Fingers’ written by Melissa Wakhu and illustrated by Mathew Odwyre, an animator.
Written in the Stars is a celebration of African culture and aims to inspire African men to be more involved in their fatherhood and intentionally while they’re at it.
The book is currently available for purchase in Nairobi bookstores and on Hustle Sasa.
