The Hyderabad Book Fair Society is set to launch the 34th Hyderabad National Book Fair from December 18-27, 2021, which had to be suspended last year, is set to resurrect.
The annual book fair will be held in Telangana Kala Bharti (near NTR Stadium), Hyderabad from 2:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on weekdays.
Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, the fair would be held from 12:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Students with an identity card will benefit from free entry.
Besides its unique selling point, a wide range of books, the annual book fair will hold book launches, seminars and activities to promote book reading habits among people.
The first Hyderabad National Book Fair was held in 1985 at the Ashok Nagar Central Library with the participation of some prominent publishers and vendors. After an overwhelming response year after year from the city’s book readers, the fairs were moved to larger grounds like Nizam College grounds, public gardens, exhibition grounds, etc.
The event is organized with the assistance of the state government and is honored by prominent Telugu writers and scholars.
The city’s annual book fair has gone national with over 300 publishers participating in the event. Book fairs are also organized in various areas of the city, including Khammam, Warangal, Karimnagar, Kottagudem, Kodad, Mahaboobnagar, Kamareddy, Wanaparthy, etc.
The book fair also encourages the habit of reading among children with activities such as storytelling, painting, dancing and cultural programs.
