Pakistan Publishers and Booksellers Association Chairman Aziz Khalid said more than 330 stalls will be set up at the 16th Karachi International Book Fair (KIBF) which will start at the Exhibition Center on December 30.
According to the management committee, 136 major publishers and booksellers from Pakistan and 40 exhibitors from 17 countries will attend KIBF. Sindh Education Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah will inaugurate the book fair.
Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, Khalik said 400,000 visitors were expected to attend the event.
“The KIBF brings together publishing and distribution houses, national and international publishers, booksellers, librarians and institutional customers on a single platform. Publishers from Iran, India, Turkey, Singapore, China, Malaysia, England, UAE and other countries will attend the event,” he said, adding that the KIBF had become a remarkable literary event with educated and motivated visitors from all walks of life. life.
Khalid said the latest edition would be remarkable and distinctive as efforts were made to establish effective working relationships with major international book fairs, leading to an exchange of professional expertise to highlight the importance of book fairs to national and international levels. “Fairs are no longer just book exhibitions; international book fairs are very important forums not only for publishers but also for government agencies, missions as an effective tool for diplomacy,” he said. Book launch and release ceremonies will also be held for notable writers during the fair, which will also include drawing, recitation, speech and quiz competitions for children.
